Making a Difference: Dan Spencer’s Volunteer Journey to Bethel, Alaska

At Steffes, we believe in giving back, which is why we offer Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to support our employees in donating their time to causes that matter to them. This flexibility allows our team members to engage in meaningful projects and make a difference in their communities and beyond.

One inspiring example comes from Dan Spencer, a quality technician who recently traveled to Bethel, Alaska, as part of a Reach Trip through his church. Over five days, Dan and his group worked on rebuilding existing churches, tackling projects like hanging sheetrock, running PEX piping, insulating ceilings, installing doors, and laying sub-flooring.

During their time in Alaska, they also had the unique opportunity to travel north on an ice road to Akiak, an isolated village home to the Yup’ik tribe, where they experienced the local culture firsthand and gained a deeper understanding of the community.

Dan described the experience as incredible and hopes to return in the future. We’re proud to support employees like Dan, who use their time and skills to make a positive impact!
