Giving Back, Rain or Shine: Tristen Sandstrom Volunteers at the Bakken Classic Fishing Derby

At Steffes, we believe in the power of giving back, and we’re proud to offer Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to our team members so they can make a meaningful impact in their communities. Recently, Tristen Sandstrom, documentation specialist at Steffes, did just that by volunteering at the Bakken Classic Fishing Derby hosted by the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation.

This wasn’t Tristen’s first time supporting the event. In fact, this was her third time volunteering at the derby, and she jumped in with the same enthusiasm as she brings each time. Her day started by checking in all 89 fishing teams – greeting each one with a smile, even as she braved 30 mph wind gusts, rain, and chilly temperatures. Once the tournament kicked off, Tristen helped set up the weigh stations and later gave participants rides back to their boat trailers, saving them the uphill walk after a long day on the water.

Despite the weather, Tristen’s dedication and positive attitude never wavered.

“I want to thank Steffes for the opportunity to connect with some of our customers in the oil and gas industry during my volunteer hours at this amazing event,” said Sandstrom. “A big thank you as well to the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation for allowing me to be a volunteer and represent Steffes.”

We’re proud to support employees like Tristen who make the most of their volunteer hours, serving our communities and doing it with a smile.
