For many homeowners, Steffes Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) systems have delivered reliable comfort, warmth, and off-peak savings for years. As these systems reach 20+ years of age, they are nearing end of life. Parts can become harder to find, and repairs may no longer be possible.

Now is the time to Upgrade!

The Replacement Heater Program helps members upgrade to new Steffes ETS systems. For a limited time, Steffes is offering manufacturer incentives through participating utilities to help reduce installation costs. These incentives are primarily intended for replacing aging storage heaters but may also apply to NEW installations, depending on each utility’s program guidelines.

Program Eligibility

You may qualify for program incentives if:

You are a member of a participating electric cooperative
Your home or building currently uses Electric Thermal Storage heating
OR are planning to install a NEW qualifying Electric Thermal Storage system
The installation meets your utility’s program requirements
The system installed is an approved Steffes ETS model

Replacement installations are the primary focus of this program, but incentives may also be available for NEW installations. Eligibility and rebate amounts may vary by utility. Contact your cooperative for eligibility details.

What heaters qualify for replacement?

Eligible replacement units include older Steffes and competitor storage heaters, such as:

EXT Series
1000 Series
DLF furnaces
HPB units
European storage heaters
Other storage heater models

The replacement must be a qualifying Steffes ETS system.

The Replacement Heater Program applies to new Steffes Electric Thermal Storage heating systems, including approved replacement and NEW installations of:

Room Heater: Replaces baseboard heating with proven, reliable off-peak room comfort.
Comfort Plus Forced Air Furnace: Designed as a replacement for electric, gas, or oil furnaces with easy heat pump integration.
Serenity Forced Air Furnace: Built to replace electric, gas, or oil furnaces and designed to work alongside a heat pump.
Comfort Plus Hydronic Furnace: Ideal for radiant floor, baseboard, or zoned heating systems.

The limited-time manufacturer incentive is available to members of participating utilities who purchase and install a qualifying Steffes ETS system between April 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026. Systems must be installed by October 15, 2026. Manufacturer incentives are administered through participating utilities and vary by utility program. This is not a cashback offer from Steffes.

Qualifying systems include the 2100, 4100, 4200, and 5100 Series. Eligible installations may include replacement of existing Steffes ETS or comparable storage heating systems, as well as new installations. Proof of purchase and installation may be required. Incentives and program requirements vary by utility, and it is the member’s responsibility to confirm eligibility. Additional utility incentives may be available, including per kW rebates and financing options. Check with your utility for details.

Heat Loss Calculation Requirement (New Installations Only)*1

A heat loss calculation is required for new ETS system installations and must be completed by a qualified contractor prior to installation to ensure proper system sizing and performance. The member and installing contractor are responsible for the accuracy of the calculation and equipment selection. Neither the utility nor Steffes is responsible for performance issues resulting from incorrect sizing, improper installation, or inaccurate calculations. Failure to complete a proper heat loss calculation may result in reduced performance, insufficient heating capacity, or increased energy use.
