Al Takle celebrates 30 years of service at Steffes

Al Takle, business unit manager at Steffes, recently celebrated 30 years with the company. In honor of his service, we sent him on a vacation of his choice: Sicily. Congratulations and thank you, Al!

My wife, Kim, and I toured the whole island of Sicily, including Greek ruins, churches, city markets, and vineyards. The places we visited included Palermo, Segesta, Erice, Agrigento, Modica, Siracusa, Mount Etna, Taormina, and Catania. The food was incredible, and we had lots of eggplant dishes. It was very hot when we were there! One afternoon, we stayed at a hotel with a pool and a beach on the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the volcano at Mount Etna erupted a few weeks after we left!

We were supposed to spend two days on the mainland in Rome, Italy, but we were only able to spend a few hours there because there was an equipment fire at the airport in Catania on the island of Sicily the night before we were to leave from there. We rode the train from Catania to Rome, which included a ferry ride across the Straits of Messina where the train coaches were actually put onto the ferry!

Thank you, Steffes, for the awesome service award!
